Welcome to the WAG pages

Who or what is WAG

Following a public meeting in 1995, WAG was formed with the following aims:

a)      To defend, care for and enhance the natural environment of Walberton

b)      To find ways of improving the quality of life for local people within the Parish of
    Walberton

c)      To encourage the conservation of the best of the built environment

d)      To support a sustainable community.

 Membership

Membership is open to all residents of the Parish of Walberton, including Binsted and Fontwell. WAG arranges several open meetings each year and encourages as many people as possible to take an active part in its activities. Its committee is elected at the AGM in the autumn.

WAG objectives

WAG sees itself as a practical community group which works closely with and which complements the work of the Parish Council. In pursuing its aims it has the following objectives:

· To involve all sections of the   community

· To promote conservation of our countryside and its enjoyment

· To promote public transport, cycling and walking

· To promote recreational needs - especially of the young

· To enable residents to be more aware of their environment and its history

· To promote support for local businesses and services.

Finance

WAG has no regular income, except for a voluntary annual subscription from members to cover basic administration costs, although the Parish Council does give some assistance in cash and in kind. Most projects are implemented by the committee applying for grants and funding from external sources.
